NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 5, 2019) – Aussie Peppers rookie pitcher, Nicole Newman, and SOTA Clothing recently announced an On Player Ad Location (OPAL) partnership for the 2019 National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) season.

Newman, the 13th overall selection in the 2019 NPF College Draft, by the Aussie Peppers, became the first professional softball draftee in history, from Drake University. The two-time All American (First Team-2019), three-time Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, and four-time MVC First Team All-Conference player, made NCAA Division I Softball history in 2019 by setting an eye popping single season record in throwing five perfect games.

“I am very excited about my sponsorship with SOTA for this season, and their eagerness to support women in sports,” commented Newman. “I really love how their clothing design allows someone to represent their home state with pride. SOTA not only provides great state apparel for those who live in Minnesota but also recently began making apparel for all of the different states. I am looking forward to competing in Minnesota over the summer and showing people how great and fashionable SOTA is.”

SOTA is a clothing brand that began with the simple notion of promoting pride in the state of Minnesota by its founder, Spencer Johnson. What began with designs exclusively focusing on Johnson’s home state’s particular qualities, has since grown to include many more options under the Classic State category, which includes a unique take on other states and regions.

“We are thrilled and honored to have even a small part in Nicole’s journey as she continues her career with the National Pro Fastpitch softball league,” said SOTA COO/CFO, Lauren Johnson. “Being a fellow midwesterner, we’re excited to stand behind her as she continues to progress to even greater levels within this most elite platform.”

Newman and her Aussie Peppers team will open their 2019 season on Sunday, June 9th, when they host the Beijing Shougang Eagles in their home opener at Caswell Park in North Mankato, Minnesota. The Peppers will play a complete 46 game regular season schedule in the NPF, spanning from their opener on June 9 through their final regular season game on August 11.

The North Mankato based NPF Team doubles as the Australian National Team with a few American player additions for NPF action, that include Newman. Following the NPF season, the majority of the team will depart for Shanghai, China to take part in the Asia/Oceania Softball Olympic Qualifier, where they will vie for a single qualifying berth to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. The Qualifier takes place September 24-29.

National Pro Fastpitch took the field for its 16th season in 2019 when opening day took place on May 28th in Daytona Beach, FL at Jackie Robinson Park, between the Beijing Shougang Eagles and the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois. The 138 game complete regular season will be streamed live domestically, exclusively on Flo Softball. Fans can follow the live stream by subscribing to Flo Softball at FloSoftball.com. Internationally, the live stream and VOD are available through the league’s website at www.profastpitch.com.
