NASHVILLE, TN (April 13, 2019) – National Pro Fastpitch will launch the first of a series of original music by various female artists, during Monday night’s Draft production. The song, “Rise Up”, written by Taryn Papa and Tigirlily (Krista and Kendra Slaubaugh), and produced by Ryan Rossebo, is a riveting anthem reflecting empowerment.

“I wanted to create an empowering anthem song that applied to any journey whether it be the artists, the athletes, or the every day work life,” commented Papa. “For me, when I moved to Nashville, I became a small fish in a big pond, something I wasn’t used to back home. I know that my time is right now and I have to take all my experiences and buckle up and rise up! I feel this same connection with women’s softball. These college girls work so hard throughout the year and their time is NOW! It’s time to face everything and rise up to the moment!”

Papa has performed live at the NPF College Draft since 2015 and will close this year’s show with a live performance of “Rise Up”. As the niece of Hall of Famer, Donna Papa, longtime Head Coach of the University of North Carolina Tarheels, Taryn feels a close connection to the sport and to the young women who are drafted each year.

“Spending spring breaks visiting my Aunt Donna at UNC, with her incredible group of girls, I have always felt so much pride for them,” said Papa. “I am impressed by their commitment to community involvement, their studies, their practice, and their friendships. I respect that despite trials or triumphs, they strive to continue on after college building a life doing what they love professionally. This is something I’ve always admired. The draft is their moment and it’s an honor to be a part of it.”

“We are so very proud to be able to debut “Rise Up” in our 2019 Draft and to have Taryn be on hand to perform it live is really something special,” commented NPF Commissioner, Cheri Kempf. “This song feels incredible, has amazing lyrics, and represents the accomplishment of the 25 women drafted on Monday perfectly. I look forward to everyone hearing and loving the song and I hope this relationship of the NPF platform combined with the incredibly talented female artists, proves the adage that we truly are stronger together.”
