NORTH MANKATO, MN (June 12, 2019)– The Aussie Peppers and Beijing Shougang Eagles wrapped up their series Wednesday night at Caswell Park in North Mankato with a doubleheader.
The Peppers (3-1) took both games from the Eagles (1-9).
In game one, the Peppers struck first in the fourth inning.
Belinda White singled in a run to right centerfield and advanced to third on an error. White finished 1-3 with the one RBI.
White scored later after Taylah Welch singled to center.
Peppers add to their lead in the bottom of the fifth after Madeline Cameron singled in a run.
Peppers go on to win 3-0 over the Eagles. Tarni Stepto, Amelia Cudicio, and Nicole Newman combined to toss a shut-out for the Peppers while striking out nine.
In game two, Eagles strike first in the sixth inning.
Wang Bei singled to center scoring Liu Yanmin to take a 1-0 lead. Bei went 2-3 in the game with the one RBI.
Peppers respond in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run homerun from White. Tamieka Whitefield followed White up with a homerun of her own to make it a 4-1 Peppers lead.
The Aussie Peppers go on to win 5-1 over the Eagles in game two.
Beijing is back in action on Friday against the Canadian Wild. The Aussie Peppers return to the diamond this Tuesday against the USSSA Pride.
